A: Neither and both. It is the portrait journalistic style. It combines fashion, fine art and wedding photography. It also gives us the full range of creative freedom. It does not restrict us to either shoot portraits and miss all the natural candid moments or shoot only documentary style and not have the ability to pose people. When a lot of things are happening like during the ceremony, the cake cutting and the first dance we shoot documentary style. But during the getting ready part, the reception and on breaks in between we will shoot portraits.
A: First you should like the photographer’s style. Are the images he shoots alive? When you look at portraits do you only see the person or can you also feel the person’s personality? Wedding photography goes far beyond capturing images. Wedding photography is about capturing the essence of the moment. Can you feel the beauty of the day, the happiness of the guests, the joyous atmosphere and above all the love that radiates between the bride and the groom? Do you like the photographer’s personality? You will spend a lot of time with him on your wedding day. The more comfortable you are with him the better the pictures will be.
A: Almost all our weddings are shot digitally. Digital wedding photography has advantages to shooting a wedding on film. The ability to share the wedding pictures with friends and family online, instant feedback and the possibility to have the images color adjusted by us are some of them. But if you would like to have your wedding shot on film we can do that of course. To see the different "look" of film compared to digital please go to "Trina and Guy" in our wedding images section. That wedding was shot entirely on medium format film.
A: We work with the creative fee price model. You pay for our style and our experience. We deliver the images on a disc or give you the negatives. You have "home use rights" on the wedding photos what means you can use them personally as long as you do not use them commercially. Please take usage rights in consideration when you choose your wedding photographer. Some photographers work with the aftermarket sales model. The initial fee is very low but they relay heavily on high priced print and album sales. You do not own the images and all print orders have to go through the photographer. With our price model you can take care of your printing needs yourself wherever you want.
A: Yes, we can do that for you if you are interested. We upload the images to Printroom.com, a professional photographer’s online proofing service. That way you can avoid getting all the calls for print orders. Your family and friends can go online at their own convenience; order the prints they want and get them directly send to them.
A: Yes, I am shooting every single wedding myself. An assistant usually accompanies me. A second photographer is optional.
A: We are available for destination weddings worldwide.
A: Your images will be ready within 60 days after your wedding day.
A: That is another advantage of shooting digital. Every image is captured in color and can be converted to b/w. If you want us to shoot film we will shoot color and b/w film. You can go from color to b/w but if your favorite image is captured on b/w film you cannot get a color print.
A: We are more then happy to help you to choose your personal wedding album. We offer a variety of album manufacturers and styles.
A: For digital we use professional digital Nikon cameras and lenses. For film we use professional Nikon 35mm and Mamiya medium format cameras.
A: Yes, every piece of equipment is backed up.
A: Yes, we are properly insured.
A: Yes, of course. We are available for personal meetings in New York City. If you do not live in the New York City area we can set up an online videoconference. That is a great way to get to know each other without having to travel.
